![]() Commercial pilot - Helicopter Student already holds a private pilot certificate. This course is designed for the individual who seeks a career as a professional helicopter pilot. Most often the first employment opportunity for a newly certified pilot is that of Flight Instructor. Voyager Flight Services uses the Robinson R-22 and R-44 helicopters exclusively. Most helicopter training schools use Robinson helicopters which means the most likely first job will be to fly a Robinson helicopter. Students entering this course must be at least 18 years of age and be fluent in English. Before solo flight the student must hold a third class medical certificate from a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved physician. This course will take approximately 8 months. This is based on a minimum of 50 hours dual flight training, 100 hours solo or command flight training and 30 hours ground training.
